The Senior Mechanical/Piping and Projects Engineer at Oando Plc will report to the Head Facilities Engineering and Infrastructure Projects. The primary focus will be on mechanical engineering and piping design, acting as the QAQC lead on all mechanical deliverables and working closely with the Lead Discipline Engineers on all design deliverables.
The role involves developing and directing project plans, reviewing and approving mechanical design standards, ensuring compliance with design and local codes, and coordinating with other engineering and design disciplines. The role also includes implementing and maintaining design standards, responding to reports and requests for information, and reviewing finalized drawings.
Job Details
Responsibilities
- Developing and directing project plans with the Project Manager, including project schedules in relation to the Piping/Mechanical Scope and change management requirements.
- Reviewing and approving mechanical design standards and specifications, utilizing sector and safety best practices.
- Reviewing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with design requirements, standards, specifications, and local codes and regulations.
- Coordinating with other engineering and design discipline team members.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining design standards, guides, and procedures.
- Responding to reports and requests for information.
- Communicating change orders and executing change management processes.
- Reviewing stamped and finalized drawings, including piping plans and sections, piping isometrics, piping supports, tank and vessel layouts, and details.
- Ensuring engineering, design quality, and technical accuracy of drawings, 3D models, material quantities, specifications, and procedures.
- Reviewing and monitoring all Mechanical and piping deliverables.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Technology Institute.
- Professional Engineering or Professional Technologist designation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Technology Institute.
Experience Requirements
- 10 years minimum field experience in engineering, preferably with EPC experience.
- 5 years must have been spent in progressive professional project engineering or discipline engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
Skills
- Experience with piping systems and stress analysis (e.g., high-pressure steam, hot oil systems).
- Expertise in piping design and material selection in accordance with oil and gas standards.
- Working knowledge of oil and gas industry codes and standards, including CSA, ASME, and API.
- Knowledge of Plot Plan / Equipment Layout development, Piping Layout, Piping Materials, piping Stress Analysis.
- Proficiency in 3D Computer Aided Design tools such as PDS, PDMS, SP 3D.
- Knowledge of appropriate construction methods.
- Willingness to temporarily travel/transfer to an offsite location.
- Direct construction, pipe fabrication, and industrial plant commissioning experience is strongly preferred.
